Two months spent teaching English in China were like a breath of fresh air in my life as a freelancing translator and editor. As a certified TEFL and CELTA teacher (the acronyms stand for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), I worked in Suzhou as a private and in-company tutor as well as a teacher in various language schools where I got the opportunity to create my own curriculum based on human rights (the topics included e.g. censorship, death penalty, and one-child policy).
